i been trying 2 learn the bass guitar for awhile now n every video i get or book its like im hearing and reading a different language im not musically challenge music runs in my family but nobody play the bass in my mom plays panio but she plays by ear so there is really no help their are there any inputs
I suggest you look on youtube for simple lessons on bass–
and try training your ear by trying figure out VERY simple songs—then after awhile you will recognize notes easier-
You might also consider finding a bass teacher—
I find that playing bass is easiest by ear–because all those note names and symbols are like trying to crack a code—regular old tabs are much simpler and more practical–

you can play by ear but its just as hard as reading music. Ive had the same problem with a regular guitar. though both ways is hard, Ive found playing by ear is more enjoyable and less tedious and frustrating. It might take a while and I’m not even sure if its possible to learn by ear cuz you gotta place yer fingers on the right fret or whatever. I think it has to do with memory more than ear such as remembering where a certain note is.
