This is an excerpt from a longer version of the song of my drum solo from March 1983. I was helping out a friend of mine at his school talent show. We played one song which will be come evident by the end of the clip. I had to teach the bass player his riffs and he did a pretty good job of it.
The idea of this performance was for my friend Greg to change from his Fender Start to a strat copy I had traded to him for an Electric Mistress. Ge had rigged up the guuitar with a humbucker pickup, it was a feedback monster and sounded really good. Greg was to smash the guitar at the end of the song but he got confused as to how he wired up the volume pot and when he thought he was turning it up he was really turning it down. He ended up switching back to his guitar and did not smash it, hence all the crackles during the solo.
I used some pictures of some of my drum heroes as well as the few pictures I have of my drums sets and myself. A couple of “surprise guests” will make an appearance too!

Yeah the Yamaha stands had a wide foot stance that’s for sure. A buddy and I speed rated one of them when we were coming back from the music store where he had bought a Paiste 18 inch crash, we put it on one of those stands and we took a interstate exit ramp at 50mph in a van and the stand stood up to the G forces!
