Best way to learn to play Bass Guitar?

I started playing Bass Guitar(4-string) a few months ago.
I’ve been learning to play/read notes out of this book my Mom bought me.

and I was wondering, is there a better way to learn how to play, or should I just continue to learn from the book?

The book is good, but it is kind of slow for learning.
Is there a website or some Books that would be a bit better?

a better way to START is to find songs you like and learn them with tabs (www.ultimate-guitar.com). there are bass tabs on there. you should play with tabs first because it is simpler, faster, and tabs are quickly becoming the dominant language for writing down songs. after you are good at playing then you should learn the notes because this is important for writing songs and learning things by ear. and plus then you will have a head start at writing your own stuff if you plan to with like a band or something.
