Gibson les paul BASS SOLO out of the blue

jmaysen asked:

Here I am pulling a impromtu made up on the spot bass solo. The guitar player/singer decided we should each do a solo. Thing is the drummer and I did not know this until he called for it. So he calls for a drumm solo, and the drummer tells me to go 1st…. ok Distortion pedal, Les Paul Bass and Trace Eliot! let’s go!

it takes more than 3 okay notes in 100 shit out of tunes ones to make a decent song, a lot more. You don’t have a clue what you’re on about

  2. Ezek1234 says:

    very effective solo

  3. contegeorge says:

Very good!!! This bass is affected by neck dive?
    Sorry for my bad english.

  4. nirvana922 says:

Did you use the distortion pedal through the whole solo? And what pedal was it?

  5. jmaysen says:

  6. laxwarrior8 says:

Let me guess, you’re a professional bass player who enjoys critiquing others. What? You’re not? (Obvious and drawn out point) If you can’t do better, don’t criticize.

Says the guy who can’t play back in black correctly………….

  14. Marlowann says:

The upright bass is harder to play than the piano.

This is fact. The piano by its very nature is simpler in the execution of a note to begin with; you press a key, there’s a note. The upright bass is more complex and also physically more demanding, and there are multiple techniques to it.

Music must sound “right” to sound good.

This is simple logic. Music that doesn’t sound “right,” by the very meaning of the words of that sentence, sounds “wrong,” which is another way of saying “bad.”

  15. ProphecisedHero says:

doesnt matter if you play one or one hundred notes a minute, so long as the music sounds good. you could have a hundred notes that are out of tune, but you can just have three notes and make a decent song

  16. eddiebortz says:

yes i know that i never said anything about that. but you need your scales to be a better player so you understand what your doing

  17. BongOfCthulhu says:

if you dont have soul then you cant create rhythm. every scale pattern in the world wont save you.

  18. eddiebortz says:

i know but you need your scales

  19. ESP1EMG says:

    one word “soul”

  20. eddiebortz says:

u have no idea what ur talking about

  21. dch528 says:

    unimpressed

  22. ESP1EMG says:

more about technique imo. i could care less about scales on bass. you can create a wicked backbone for your band just using a few frets and a little bit of innovation.

  23. bettes says:

I don’t think bass is harder then guitar, nor guitar is harder then bass…

And don’t think any instrument is harder to play, it’s music, is doesn’t have to sound “right”. That’s the beauty of music
