Part 1 in my series on how I play my solo bass guitar arrangement of Pink Floyd’s “Goodbye Blue Sky” and some insight into the choices I made in creating the arrangement.
Part one covers preparation, including research & gear set-up.
This was recorded with a $30 webcam and assembled with Windows Movie Maker – my 1st “live” vid. I’ll experiment & see if I can improve video quality a bit for Part 2 & following.
You can hear this clip in )))STEREO((( at the link below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FsgNTNeExA&fmt=18
NOTE: If you don’t see the video annotations (little grey boxes w/ text), click the arrow in the bottom right corner and then click the little box that pops up from there [little TV-screen that looks like a page is being peeled from the top corner]. This is the toggle switch that turns annotations ON/OFF. Apparently it defaults to “OFF” when you “Watch in High Quality” and/or add the stereo extension “&fmt=18″. You should see the 1st Annotation about 0:22, and they definitely complete this clip.
Plus, you’ll never find the secret message without them.

The Applause is really a neat little rig – and that round back is quite comfy – no edge digging into your ribs.
Thanks for dropping by – Pt 2 is in editing stage.

This is such a great introduction vid! Lots of times, we become mystified by the talent of another bass player and conclude that they must be some type of God of sorts. But in reality, it actually just goes back to setup, subjective taste, technique and gear.
I use the same pedal! I’m really impressed with Line 6 products. Dude, that bass is beautiful!

Robert, consider me a student! Thank you for this. I continue to LOVE my Fender acoustic… electric basses continue to sit in the corner these days. With the rich stand-up sound I can achieve, I am deep into mountain music [Carter Family], and lots of blues. I hope to post an original soon with my sister [guitarist]. Just bought a Yorkville Traynor 200T to amplify… love it. Looking forward to learning from you, and I hope you will continue to teach. Glad I was part of convincing you!

Thanks, JD! Good to have you drop by! This is one thing that’s kept me from getting “Confrontation” finished, but it gives me a chance to work out the bugs in the system, and get the best quality for that project.
