    I’ve had my £400 …
I’ve had my £400 Cort sounding better than my £1,000 Warwick bass before. It’s set up perfectly to my liking with Roto Flatwound Jazz strings which compliment the bass perfectly.
I’m still trying different things with the Warwick.

Just be sure to try a lot of basses before you buy if you can. If you cant then ask for recommendations in a local music shop and have someone demonstrate their stock.
Then find it cheaper online lol

    Sorry for the long read

    I suggest that you …
I suggest that you get to a good standard for a beginner / average player before you buy your second bass

If you can make a piece of sound good then imagine what you can make a piece of gold sound like

But still remember, you can polish a piece of …but its still a piece of shit.
Recommended basses – Ibanez, Epiphone (NOT THE THUNDERBIRD), Cort, Fender, OCCASIONALLY Yamaha…
They’ll all be fine for cheap basses.

    I dont know if …
I dont know if it’ll help now but
My first bass was a Jim Deacon (NEVER RECOMMENDED) that cost £109
My second was a Cort C4 Special edition that cost £400
my current is a Warwick STD5 Corvette Ash which is worth about £1,000 (Depends where you look)

I’d say for your first bass, if you know nothing on bass yet then no more than £200
if you know things already but are still just starting then no more than £300.

Hey brother. I’d recommend a squire vintage modified. I got mine a year ago and would recommend it to anyone starting out, or someone who doesn’t want their nice fender beat up on the road. For a starter bass, it can’t be beaten, and that’s no lie. check it out.

  14. alwaysopen says:

    Why don’t you chase …
Why don’t you chase my down to my ball sack and finger my scrotal hairs?

It has nothing to do with chasing notes and should be easy for you if using the proper hand position

  15. mryellow123 says:

    You miss the point. …
You miss the point. A proper hand position gives you what you seek.

By using all 4 of your fingers you cover a greater range in 1 hand position. Using all your fingers is exactly the reason why you get a greater range without having to check your hand (for the singers). With 1-finger-per-fret you don’t have to look at the fingerboard because you can cover over an octave before needing a position shift.

    It’s about NOT chasing notes.

  16. alwaysopen says:

    The principle still …
    The principle still applies, dickface.
If you can’t switch keys or modes you can’t play it anyway. It is still easier to play across the board and sing than to chase notes up and down the neck while trying to concentrate on a refrain.

“Fixes” 350 years of “diatonics” and brings it back to a unified harmonic universe.

    Oh just realised …
Oh just realised what it is that confused you.

Cello is tuned in 5ths (C G D A). Bass is tuned in 4ths (E A D G). Thus the difference in the range covered by the fingers.

    You guys including …
You guys including the “teacher” in the vid should listen, read and get the principles of music as seen by Allan Holdsworth, he is really inspiring and liberating.
He has scales who are 3-4 octaves long for instance, he just broke up and extended classical theory. Yet his principles are really easy to comprehend.

  22. NSGU says:

    You put too much …
You put too much unneeded stress on your wrist if you’d use your fingers in a one-fret-per-finger setup. If your playing low on the neck-that is, low notes-use your pinky.

  23. mryellow123 says:

    wtf? You not happy …
wtf? You not happy that I didn’t reply to your rant?

So several rockers play with this shape? No shit! It’s good for certain tones, just not the best thing to teach kids as their resting hand position.

Chasing notes? You wouldn’t have to worry about chasing notes if your fingers were already ontop of them.

    Get over yourself dickhead.
