    You should record …
    You should record the kick drum with the microphone inside of the kick drum and really close to the place where the beater of the footpedal is going to hit. You’ll get much more attack from the pedal but less low freq. Or you can try just recording it the normal way and use a kick drum trigger to get that. Hope it helps. Peace.

    for the metal players… try boosting at 80 and between 5-k. Sometimes cutting some mid out of works too.

    some ppl have asked me to give them a “metal players” kick drum sound, that high freq “cliky” sound.

    what would you reccomend to get that sound?
