One of the most beautiful sounds on earth is music played on a guitar in the fingerstyle method. It involves playing both a melody and bass line at the same time.

Below is a basic fingerstyle tab of silent night. This will hopefully get you started on a road to playing fingerstyle guitar.

The song is in the key of C. So lets get started.

This is a song I’m sure everyone knows. Use the melody to help you along. Take each segment and practice it slowly until you get use to the fingerings. As for which fingers to use, my suggestion is to use which ever fingers you feel most comfortable with. I know it looks like a lot to learn but you will see it really is a simple song to play.
